I know. What a title. Definitely not a life changing blog post. Just about a cable. Anyway...
A couple of months ago I made a purchase of an iPhone 6. I actually made an exclusive post on it prior to this one. It was from a friend. Well, a friend's brother. I was told the brother worked as a manager and had got gifts of two units of iPhone 6. Another friend informed me of that and I got interested immediately. I talked to this friend whose brother was selling the gifted iPhones. After I made very sure that the phone was an original Apple product and after some hard negotiation, I bought it from her. I got mine in gold.
A couple of days later since the deal and money transfer, the phone arrived, safely. All sealed and proven of its originality. One of the first things I did was checking that every part worked supposedly. Although I came to a strange discovery. It was of the cable that wouldn't charge my new iPhone 6. It was from the box, of course. Strangely it charged my previous iPhone 5 and the iPad Mini just fine. It was definitely the cable because I tried different charging heads and it still would do nothing to the iPhone 6. I was a little confused and disappointed. Hmm... perhaps I was more worried just because it was damn new!
I also made sure it wasn't the phone! So I tried to charge the new phone with the previous iPhone 5 charging cable. It worked.
Carelessly, I kept using the iPhone 5 charging cable to charge my iPhone 6. All that went inside the box of the iPhone 5 that I have sold included the charging cable that came with the iPhone 6 box. I hope that made sense.
This evening just now I just got back from a store where I purchased an original charging cable for the iPhone 6, because the cable I have been using broke ugly-ly. It was quite pricey for such a cable. I guess expensive phones come with expensive accessories. Boohoo... such is life.
Anyway, I was told by the guy in the store that using a non-original charging cable could potentially hurt the battery quality of the iPhone. It would have to do with the capacity that the cable has to transmit the power from the power source to the phone. So, I was happy to opting to buy the pricey cable for the sake of the longer life span of my phone's battery.
I will also not use my phone while it is charging because it can damage the other end of the cable mostly caused by careless movements.
