Sour Sweets

The latest midnight of our local time here was the moment of the 2566th Chinese New Year celebration. Only a few minutes past zero-zero hour I checked my phone and went in BBM to update my status and change my display picture to appreciate the celebration. Not to forget, I sent congratulations to my Chinese relatives. I then went to sleep with the thought in mind that I would buy some Chinese sweets... which are of course sour tasting.
Orange Peels, Dried Plums & Dried Mangoes
I often buy these sweets even on just any day in the year. I know one store that not only sells Chinese medicines but also the sour sweets. The store is called Malaka, on Jalan Solo. In the family most of us have loved these sweets... since we were very young, I remember. We grew up snacking on them.

Strangely I don't have a crave for a Mandarin cake which is instantly famous during the Chinese New Year. Instead, a cake to crave is a moon cake. I like it much. I hope that it will sell during Cap Go Meh (Lantern Festival) coming soon enough.

  1. I am a bit curious about the figure 2566 years. I thought that represents the date Buddhism religion was discovered. The lantern festival is usually held to coincide with the Moon Cake Festival in China and Malaysia.
