Handmade Traveler Journal

I spent the whole Saturday yesterday making a traveler journal. I stumbled into a video on YouTube which showed a tutorial on how to make a traveler journal using a leather sheet as its cover. I really like the result. Having a sister who has her own brand of leather bags and wallets, I had access to having an enough sheet of leather to work on.

I began with measuring the leather. In prior to that, though, I needed to prepare the paper sheets. For the papers I bought an A4 sketch book from a book store. I then ripped every sheet off the book. After that, I folded each sheet of paper in half. Of all folded sheets of paper, I divided them into three parts or signatures. Each signature consisted of 28 pages.

Using my handmade skill to hold every part together using a cotton thread and other tools, in the late afternoon I finally finished my handmade traveler leather journal.

I deliberately picked this side of leather because it looked worn out and old, which gives a strong sense of wildness and traveling. I don't know. That's just how I feel when I see the leather cover.

Oh, one more thing, the contents of the journal are exchangeable, meaning they can be replaced and refilled.

  1. I like your handmade journal. You should start selling your own brand too!
